World Ozone Day – September 16

Ozone Day was started with the aim of preventing the release of gases that weaken the ozone layer into the atmosphere and making the world aware of the importance of the ozone layer.
Ozone Day was first observed in 1994 under the auspices of the United Nations. September 16 was chosen to commemorate the day the Montreal Protocol was signed in 1987, which marked a turning point in ozone protection.
