Illustrated cardiac surgeon Dr K. M. Cherian, credited with performing the country’s first heart bypass surgery in 1975, died on Saturday. He was 82. Dr. Cherian Performed India’s first heart bypass in 1975; leaving a legacy of pediatric surgeries and global recognition including an inscription at Hippocrates birthplace.
