23rd Prof. K. V. Thomas Endowment National Seminar on Frontiers in Materials Science
On September 29, 2023 (Friday), a science internship program took place for Vigyan Jyothi Scholars from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Neriamangalam, Idukki. The program ran from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and was attended by 23 scholars, along with three accompanying faculty members. This event was coordinated by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) and the Department of Aquaculture.
The program included a variety of hands-on sessions and activities, such as practical training on the use of compound microscopes, ABO blood typing, identification of leucocytes, examination of fish scale types, microbiology laboratory exercises, osteology sessions, taxonomy workshops, a museum visit, exploration of aquarium fish and fish breeding techniques, and BMI (Body Mass Index) calculations. Additionally, a visit to the library was also included.
The students and faculty members greatly appreciated the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience during the various sessions.
