PG & Research Department of Chemistry, Sacred Heart College Thevara is running a certificate course in Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD) since 2018. The eligibility of participants of the course is graduation in the discipline of chemical, biological or physical sciences. From 2020 onwards the course is a UGC approved 6 months certificate course entitled “Innovative Drug Design using Molecular Modeling Techniques” . The maximum intake of the participants of the course is limited to 40. The 6 months certificate course will be especially valuable to both industrial and academic chemists/biologists who wish to use computer-based knowledge to enhance the productivity of their research in the fields of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular design for pharmaceutical applications. The research based certificate course with interdisciplinary elements and high level computations give motivation to initiate startup in Pharmaceutical Industry. . The course exclusively covers advanced topics in drug discovery such as pharmacophore modeling, structure-based drug design (docking and scoring), homology modeling, Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR), molecular dynamics simulations of protein ligand complexes as well as relevant elements of machine learning. Additionally the certificate holder has job opportunities as drug designer, analyst or computational chemist in leading pharmaceutical companies.
