Consultancy Policy
Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) has always recognized the value of its faculty undertaking consultancy work for outside agencies and organizations. Consultancy is an important channel through which ideas and services can be transacted between the College and the outside agencies. The college has been offering a bevy of consultancy services offered by its faculty and scholars to the public. This has the twin advantage of deploying the knowledge-base of the institution creatively and for the benefit of a larger community along with earning recognitions and rewards for the experts at the institution. Consultancy activities are promoted with a view to fostering industry – institute collaboration and to strengthen the institute’s intervention in societal transformation and development. The college shall also develop modern infrastructural facilities for consultancy and offer the required training for the faculty.
Heartian Consultancy Catalogue
Consultancy involves the transfer of knowledge and is usually the transfer of knowledge and expertise to outside agencies for financial and non-financial benefits. The main consultancy services offered by the College includes training programmes for various stakeholders, expert advice, analysis and interpretation of data, conduct of various national/international examinations, which require special experience and expertise etc. Normally, it does not involve the production of new knowledge and is achieved in the short term through activities that may be completed in a few days or weeks. The College does not appoint people from outside for offering consultancy; it is offered by faculty and involves extra work.
SHARE – Sacred Heart Advanced Research Endeavour
Sacred Heart Advanced Research Endeavour (SHARE) is an interdisciplinary forum created in 2010, consisting of students, teachers and research scholars, which monitors and mentors research initiatives in the college. It also promotes inter-disciplinary collaboration and sharing of available human and infrastructural resources. The forum not only provides a platform for young researchers to hone their aptitude but also provides them active support through organizing talks, workshops, seminars and discussions on frontier areas of research, fund generation, consultancy work and patenting. The forum also acts as a platform for research guides to share their expertise and experiences and provide mutual help to produce high quality research output. The forum encourages a much-needed culture of teamwork among researchers. It also supervises the allocation of seed money for research. The forum organizes Annual Science Congress involving the presentations of the research scholars of the research centres in the college and project findings of various PG programmes. This platform is used for the review of the progress of the ongoing major and minor research projects of the college. It is also used as a platform to prepare the half-yearly report of the research scholars of various research centres of the college, which is a mandatory requirement of MG University. The activities of SHARE are coordinated by the Dean of Research and supported by the Deans of Science and Humanities.
Objectives
Coordinate the research projects of students by preparing guidelines for UG and PG research projects.
Give necessary guidance and support to the research supervisors of various departments.

Selected Project Proposals of HI- BIRDS (2023-24)
Selected project proposals for financial assistance under the Heartian Initiative for Building Innovation, Research and Development Scheme of HI- BIRDS (2023-24)
This is a programme of SHARE, supported by PTA-SWT. This is to encourage research among the staff and the students. Proposals are invited and scrutinized, and as per the annual budgetary provisions, funds are allocated for various research projects. The amount is given on condition that the successful completion of the project should lead to a publication at least in a national level journal.
Heartian Science Congress
This was begun in the year 2010 as an activity of SHARE (Sacred Heart Advanced Research Endeavour). The already existing presentation contest of PG projects was the starting point. It was decided that all the departments shall join this contest, including the research scholars. It is designed to increase inter-disciplinary learning and serve as a platform for inter-departmental collaboration.
Objective/purpose
1. Qualitative improvement of PG dissertations through a two-level contest of the project
2. Dissemination of knowledge generated to the academic community
3. Enhancement of communication skills
4. Providing an occasion for the gathering of SH College researchers at the organisation.
Usually the contest is held after the PG projects are completed, and hence towards the end of July or beginning of August. After a common session with some input in new areas of research by some eminent scholar, the group gets separated into Arts, Commerce and Science streams and two of the best projects from each department are presented before the academic audience to be judged by a panel of judges. Prizes are distributed by a guest speaker, who delivers the valedictory address. The gathering also serves as the concluding finale of all the PG batches at the college
